After 19 years in this fabulous country, Colin finally became a Canadian citizen yesterday. The ceremony took place at St. John's city hall where a total of 43 people were welcomed into the Canadian family. Having never been to one of these ceremonies before, we didn't quite know what to expect but were both impressed by how touching the whole thing was. Looking at the wide variety of new citizens, we would have loved to have found out each of their individual stories. Regardless, we were happy to see all the new diversity added to this great city. The formalities set aside, Colin is now focusing on being as Canadian as possible. He's been faking it well for years: listening to CBC radio, playing ice hockey, frequenting Tim Horton's, obsessing about hockey scores, taming the snowblower and saying sorry lots, to name just a few traits he has mastered. I guess the only thing left to do is vote! That is, as long as he votes for the same person as me so as to not cancel out my vote. Hmmm, this might require some training... And for those hoping for a Sam picture, I include one of father and son playing in the leaves last weekend when Colin was still a foreigner. At least he was wearing a Team Canada hat...
