To state the obvious, the blog has been neglected. The competing reasons in my head are probably two-fold. First, the conversation of yesteryear with a blogging friend about what age one must limit the gratuitous disclosure of one's children's lives to the blogosphere. Second, the realization, thanks to Google Analytics, that people are actually reaching the blog through searches for "Life in Newfoundland". To those people, I say "It's good. Thanks for asking. Now, go back to your Google search to find a site that discusses life in Newfoundland in more general terms than the details pertaining to our lives". That being said, I'm going to soldier on but perhaps less frequently and with less specific details.
So, back to the original question, spring much? The answer is an emphatic yes. Now, this is quite off for us here in St. John's. Typically, we find ourselves entrenched in fog for the better part of spring with the leaves finally making their appearance at the end of June. Not this year. It's been record breaking. Double digits in April and into 20s in May. Thanks to this, our garden looks like it normally does in July and all the leaves are out on the trees in the backyard. No complaining here. Everyone in town seems somewhat gobsmacked and there's a whole lot of gardening going on.
The biggest developments on our front are probably that we now have two kids enrolled in Soccertots (Beatrix is in the youngest group, the Teddies), Sam is pretty much speaking exclusively in French at preschool now (Hooray!) and we've also got two train enthusiasts on our hands. The last item is particularly good because as Sam has slowly been leaning toward Star Wars and such, Missus is picking up the slack ensuring that our silly amount of Thomas paraphernalia is getting used. Consequently, trips to the train museum have resumed and I'm actually able to sit in quiet contemplation as the two of them get to work sorting everything on the two train tables. So, it would seem that life in Newfoundland just keeps getting better and better. :)
