This post is a little late since Sam hit the twenty-one month milestone several days ago. My only excuse is that I generally find it hard to get around to blogging when we're away from home. We've been away for about a week and a half now having spent just under a week in Toronto attending the Meeting of the Americas where Colin and I were both presenting talks. Grandma came out from Montreal to help with child-minding and we followed her back to Montreal for a week of holiday which will wrap up in a couple of days when we head back to Newfoundland.
The conference went well but was definitely an exercise in juggling meeting and toddler activities. All in all, we think we managed well although we each attended a lot less of the scientific sessions than we used to pre-Sam. It was tremendously fun catching up with old friends (like Alison, pictured below, a dedicated fan of lifeinnewfoundland) and introducing them to our little man. Having Sam around also gave us lots of excuses for visiting child-friendly venues like High Park, the Ontario Science Centre and the Toronto Zoo. Here in Montreal, we've hit the Biodome, the Montreal Science Centre, the Ecomuseum and Ikea! No doubt, we'll all enjoy a bit of a rest when we get back to the Rock.
