As much as it is fun to travel and to see wonderful places (experiences that we've been very blessed with this summer), it is really, really nice to spend some summertime at home without any travel on the horizon. August in Newfoundland is just lovely and we've been enjoying a particularly nice one. Since returning from our many travels, we've been getting reacquainted with our adopted province and are really thankful for the chance to relax a bit before the onslaught of the Fall term. The past couple of weeks have included a trip to see the animals and pick up some fresh local produce at Lester's Farm, a lovely visit from Grandma that involved building lots of forts and a day trip to Ferryland and to La Manche Provincial Park, and finally lots of visits to the nearby municipal parks. We were even in town for the Royal St. John's Regatta, the oldest continuous sporting event in North America dating back to at least 1826, although we managed to miss it again by taking Sam to a playdate. As we said last year, we'll try to go next year... Anyway, work is steady and interesting, the weather is warm and sunny, Sam is happy and eating like a horse, life is pretty much perfect. Enjoy the remaining weeks of summer everyone!
